Projects
As an artist first, and photographer second, I have projects that I'd like to develop but currently lack the time or resources to accomplish. I'm not sure where they'll go, but they might end up as a show in a gallery or a documentary in book. I honestly haven't given them that much thought yet. Below are a couple of the ideas I'm kicking around.
Vanishing Craftsmen
I'd like to document the craftsmen (men and women) that work in occupations that are dying out, or being pushed into obscurity by our culture's shopping mall mentality. When was that last time you went to a barber shop, a cobbler, a blacksmith, or a woodworker? Have you ever seen a stone carver work? How about a wood carver? I'd love to immortalize a few of these artisans while they're still around and practicing their craft.
Coastal Fishing Communities
I'd love to document the current state of coastal fishing communities along the east coast of the United States. They're rapidly dissolving as fish stocks diminish, gas prices rise, foreign imports undercut and developers buy their land.
